Michelle Sheppard is a Sarasota, FL based artist focusing on oil paintings of nature.  She is a graduate of the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Aix-en Provence, France and the Stern School of Business, New York University. After a successful career in finance in Paris and New York City, she focused on raising her two daughters in Southern California and New Canaan, CT.  She is now pursuing her passion for painting full time.

Michelle has lived in Colombia, Spain, Jamaica and France and is fluent in French and Spanish. Having lived in many countries, Michelle is always searching for places and objects that inspire her, particularly unusual and rich landscapes as well as birds and flowers in their myriad shapes and colors. This is illustrated in several of her orchid paintings with their intricate and exotic details. Trying to observe, reflect and translate the different elements of light into color is always on her mind. Most of Michelle's paintings are realistic often with stylized elements.   She has studied under Dmitri Wright and Alex McFarlane at the Silvermine Guild of Art, New Canaan, Ct. She has exhibited in numerous juried shows in Sarasota and Venice, FL and Greenwich, Stamford, and New Canaan, CT.  Her works are currently on display at the Art Avenue Gallery in Sarasota.

Michelle comes to art naturally.  Her great uncle Georgi Velchef was a well known Bulgarian artist who has a museum dedicated to him in Varna, Bulgaria:  http://visit.varna.bg/en/gallery/preview/65.html
